We are looking for research abstracts that are translatable or that solve specific problems in the health care setup.
A Year long fellowship aimed at creating a culture of independently funded research activities and to make health care professionals well-versed in the basics of research. Research Fellowship for this year is exclusively available to residents in the departments of Radiology, Oncology, and Internal Medicine at Black Lion Hospital, as well as medical students enrolled in St. Paul's Millennium Medical College. To apply, please submit your department-issued student ID or residency verification as proof of your eligibility. We aim to broaden the scope of the research grant to include medical students and residents from other institutions in the future. Thank you for your interest!
We are looking for research abstracts that are translatable or that solve specific problems in the health care setup.
Once the submissions are collected, an independent selection committee will shortlist 20 finalists who will be further narrowed down to 5 winners who will receive the cash prize. However, all 20 finalists will take advantage of mentorship from our network of outstanding Ethiopian researchers, and they will also have access to exclusive webinars on research topics that are curated by educators and experts from world-renowned universities.
Yes. The fellowship includes assistance and follow-up during the duration of the research project. This includes assistance with IRB approval, framing the research project, final write-up of the research, and the publication of the research project.
The 20 finalists will be evaluated based on their performance on the webinars, their ability to apply the knowledge/skill to their research project, and their progress with their faculty and external mentors.
The research fellowship will be conducted with a continuous partnership with Black Lion Hospital and St. Paul Millennium Medical College as agreed upon in the MOU. These hospitals will provide one faculty mentor for each finalist. Yetena Weg then provides external mentors from its network of Ethiopian researchers whose research area of interest aligns with the research project.
